Micky says...Expedite Expedia

Traveling as much as I do requires a lot of patience and time when organizing trips. Car service, hotel reservation, flight tickets etc. Especially when Adam and I try to combine and change our travel schedules. That’s what happens with two companies in one household.

I’m lucky to have Eva to assist me. So this one is for her.

Poor Eva spent five hours trying to get Adam and myself at the same destination around the same time. Her choice was Expedia.com.

Now I have used Expedia before, trying to find some great deals on our Vegas trip. I can honestly say, that I canceled the whole idea of Vegas just because the voice of the travel agent irritated me to the max.

The woman spoke with the thickest Asian accent I had ever heard. Every 2 seconds I had to say; Excuse me, what? I didn’t quite get that. Can you repeat that?

I got so tired I just hung up on her.

I was quite amused when I saw the effort Eva was making. This time she had the thickest Indian accent on the phone. Even worse! :-)

The poor girl tried to stay polite but if you would have seen her facial expressions you'd understand this was eating away her patience. I asked her to ask the phone operator where in the world he was located. Answer: (read with thick Indian accent)

"We are not allowed to say madam."

That did it. What kind of customer service do they use? I honestly believe that they use the cheapest phone operators they can get from countries we never heard of and where they have never heard of the English language.

So…

I decided not to call them out of bed, anymore.

We still appreciate Eva for all her patience and effort she put in to it. And therefore a special Thank You to her.

Hi Micky,

Zelf werk ik voor AT&T (network support) for EMEA hier in Amsterdam maar als we een helpdesk bellen bijv. voor Armstrong een amerikaans bedrijf in de US en de helpdesk is in India....very funny if you ask me. dus als men local checks moeten doen op hun router gaat dat niet . dus weer tijd verlies om het probleem op te lossen

India has more English speakers than the several times the entire population of Holland!

I can imagine the Expedia agent thinking the same about your horrible Dutch accent or Eva's accent!

If you want good service, how about going to an actual travel agency? Do these no longer exist in SF?

Where do you mean by Asian? I would describe Indian & Pakistani people I know as Asian.

I am guessing you are referring to the far east? One word I have heard for them is oriental but that sounds old fashioned.
