Micky says... how to fundraise
Sunday, November 8, 2009 at 4:28PM $730.000 was raised last Saturday night in San Francisco for the benefit of Interplast.
It was an honor to attend this event of “40 years of healing” as the Ambassador to the Pascaud Foundation.![]()
It really showed me how to fundraise in hard economic times like this. No showbizz, no TV celebrities, no big entertainment but just honest donors. Good honest people who are really interested. Beautiful stories from the people that work for Interplast. A plastic surgeon, who felt a bit uncomfortable speaking while wearing a tuxedo for the first time. J He looked great. What a breath of fresh air.
And that is what it is all about. There was an auction that offered some great resort trips and wine collections but the highest bid went to a trip with the surgeons of Interplast to actually see the work with your own eyes and help as an assistant to the doctors.
I love the work these people do. They perform reconstructive plastic surgery on people with birth defects like a cleft lip and other major injuries in 3rd world countries. But most importantly they teach local doctors to be able to continue the good work.
In Africa, children born with a cleft lip are all called Ajok, witch means ‘cursed by god’. They are hidden from the outside world, can’t go to school and have an ever lesser chance in life. I think they are all children of God and deserve a fair chance.![]()
So hey, if you are thinking about plastic surgery, think again, and help these people instead of tightening your aging face. J Aging is beautiful and if you need some help to do that with grace than just use the Pascaud products.
But remember you only radiate if your inner light is shining.

Good work Micky,
It is indeed difficult to be fundraising these days. Good part about the auctioning of the trips. Do you have any recording of the event? It would be good to see it, especially some video's of some of the Doctors talking about their experiences. I too am involved in fundraising evens and the ideology has greatly changed since the early 80's.
Best regards,
Toseef
