Nielsen Co., an average American watches more than four hours of television a day. Currently 285 million televisions are being used in US households, according to the data from the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA).
Television is a great source for information and entertainment and a way of life.;)
I love my TV but I do wonder what happens to me while watching.
I switch it on and after one hour I notice that my body hardly moved. It’s like you are sucked in to a trance state. My mind is occupied with the images and emotions displayed.
I breathe differently. Zoomed out of the real world into my fictional 2 dimensional box.
I love to relax with some Chelsea Lately in the evening. I love a good movie and the news. But the following statement made me think.
‘Television inhibits your ability to think, but it does not lead to freedom of mind, relaxation or renewal. It leads to a more exhausted mind. You may have time out from prior obsessive thought patterns, but that's as far as television goes. The mind is never empty, the mind is filled. What's worse, it is filled with someone else's obsessive thoughts and images.’

In San Fran you can do so much besides watching TV!
Heights, Bridge, Alcatraz etc and not to mention shopping... love SF.
But watching tv is also a relaxing thing I find and if there are good shows even better!

If that's the case, I must be pretty lucky, because I live in Australië for more than a year now, but surprisingly enough I'm still the same person, and guess what...people happen to like me here, and love 'the Dutch', because we're hardworking, honest, easygoing, and we try to blend in. That is how the Aussies think about us, and they love having us here.

Television is as the interwebs are a medium that influences us as much as we allow ourselves to be influenced by the mighty power of both. You use an inter web to influence people am I right? The good thing about both is: we can switch it off or use it when we want to. It's here to stay and your man and you as well earn your money with the powerful thing the inter web is.
I've just registered in after browsing your blog and I like it besides "the Dutch cow shit". Don't bash your background, you're as negative in that video as the next Dutch. Though I believe negativity is everywhere also in San Francisco. And that video gave you great exposure: how to turn negativity into positivism? Well done! :D

Ga ergens inhoudelijk op in of ga tijdens werktijd je baas uitkafferen en stem lekker op 3 maart op Geert om je eigen frustraties en ontevredenheid toch nog te kanaliseren, in plaats van dit wansmakelijke gedrag. It is true, television makes you quit passive! Young children should not be aloud to watch more tv than for half an hour a day. There are som articles about the topic and it is quit shocking what TV can do.
There are also programms that make you think, and interact wit your thoughts, for example "tegenlicht"from the VPRO on the Dutch TV or good documentaries. I seen one on the German television about mindprogramming by TV in the USA, truely interesting how a collective mind is set by television.
Keep going girl and please leave all comments on the site, maybe you should translate some of them.
